LATEST NEWS
Ashington Sprint Triathlon, 7th May 2012 -
On a bright but cool bank holiday Monday many of our coached atheltes completed the Ashington Triathlon. Family battles were left, right and centre. Dave and Morag Thompson, Brian and Jenny Egdell, Mark and Helen Taylor , Jack and Mark Willis and coaches Barry and Phil Jameson all did well. Michael, Hilda, and Helen were also out storming through the triathlon. Prize winners included Hilda (2nd V50), Jack (2nd U20) and Barry Jameson (1st V50).
Coast to Coast, Open Water Swim Workshop and Junior Triathlon Training day
On 28th and 29th April, 27 people completed the Coast to Coast bike ride into a HEAD WIND making the distance feel more like 180 miles rather than the actual 140 miles. Well done to every one who attended a great weekend. The following week we took 24 people on our full day introduction to open water swim workshop. A great way to introduce open water swimming to athletes. If that was not enough the day after 20 children attended the Junior Triathlon Training Day. Swim, Bike, Run, Strength and Conditioning and tranisision practice. Everyone had a great time and thanks to all the young athletes to attended, well done!
Coach -
Phil Jameson competed in his first triathlon of the season finishing in just over an hour and set the 3rd fastest swim, 8th fastest bike and 5th fastest run, oh and the fastest transitions of the day! A great little event.
Well done to Tri4u athletes who competed in the European Triathlon Championships, Israel
Just missing out on a medal in their first major championships, Gavin Sword finishes 4th, George Robinson also 4th and Michelle Scott finished 10th despite having been on anti biotics for 3 weeks with a bad throat infection. Previously coached athletes also finished 1st, 3rd and 6th in their age groups.
Well Done Michael Wilson, Marathon Personal Best by 27 minutes
Michael completed the Paris Marathon in a PB time by 27 minutes in preparation for an Ironman in 2013. Even after hitting the famous ‘wall’ after 20 miles he pushed through to finish strong.
